YELLOW OUT DAY AND WORLD SPINA BIFIDA AWARENESS DAY!

EVERY OCTOBER THE YELLOW OUT CAMPAIGN FOCUSES EACH DAY OF THE MONTH TO HELP RAISE AWARENESS FOR SPINA BIFIDA, THE MOST COMMON NEUROLOGICAL AND PERMANENTLY DISABLING CONDITION. WE DO THIS VIA OUR SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS AND OUR YELLOW OUT DAY PROGRAM AS OUR ORGANIZATION BRANDS FOR THE CONDITION AND OUR MISSION. EACH YEAR, IN HONOR OF SPINA BIFIDA AWARENESS MONTH, THE YELLOW OUT CAMPAIGN LAUNCHES AT LEAST ONE NEW PIECE OF MERCHANDISE AND CELEBRATES OCTOBER 25TH AS OUR ANNUAL YELLOW OUT DAY. OUR ORGANIZATION IS ALWAYS SEEKING SPONSORS AND BUSINESS PARTNERS TO HELP EXPAND THE MISSION BEHIND THIS PROGRAM AND OBTAIN COMMUNITY SUPPORT. WE ENCOURAGE THOSE WHO CELEBRATE OCTOBER 25TH WITH US, TO POST THE DAYS FESTIVITIES WHILE IN THEIR YELLOW ON SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AND USING OUR OFFICIAL HASHTAGS, #ISUPPORTREAGHANV #YOD(LAST TWO DIGITS OF THE YEAR)

YELLOW OUT DAY HAS BEEN PROCLAIMED BY THE CITY OF HOUSTON, THE CITY OF MANVEL, AND THE CITY OF BEACH CITY.

WE ALSO SUGGEST USING THE FOLLOWING HASHTAGS IN YOUR POST(S) FOR YELLOW OUT DAY: #SPINABIFIDA #MYVOICEMYCOMMUNITY.

TYOC’S INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND PROJECT SERIES!

IT IS INCREDIBLE TO THINK THE STORY OF THE YELLOW OUT CAMPAIGN BEGAN WITH A LETTER IN 2012, REQUESTING ACCESSIBILITY TO AND FROM THE PLAYGROUND AT OUR FOUNDERS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. WE SAY IT IS INCREDIBLE SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU COULD SAY OUR ORGANIZATION HAS GONE “BACK TO ITS ROOTS.” IN LATE 2018, AFTER MUCH GROWTH IN SUPPORT OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY, THE YELLOW OUT CAMPAIGN RECEIVED A PROCLAMTION BY MAYOR DEBRA DAVISON AND THE CITY OF MANVEL IN REFLECTION TO OUR EFFORTS OF SPINA BIFIDA AWARENESS MONTH AND YELLOW OUT DAY. JUST PRIOR TO OUR PROCLAMATION, OUR TEAM DECIDED UPON AN EXPANSION TO HELP ESTABLISH AND CONTRIBUTE TO INCLUSIVE PLAY BY ANNOUNCING OUR INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND PROJECT SERIES. SOON FOLLOWING THIS ANNOUNCEMENT AND BEING RECOGNIZED MY COMMUNITY LEADERS, SUPPORT FOR OUR EFFORTS AND MISSION CONTINUED TO GROW AND EVENTUALLY LED TO THE PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY OF DEL BELLO LAKES THAT IS CURRENTLY IN DEVELOPMENT IN MANVEL. THE PARTNERSHIP IS THE VERY FIRST INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND PROJECT AND CONTRIBUTION MADE BY THE YELLOW OUT CAMPAIGN IN PART OF THIS ‘SERIES.’

WE KNOW THAT THIS IS THE VERY BEGINNING OF AN OUTSTANDING CHAPTER TO OUR ORGANIZATIONS STORY. WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR MAYOR DAVISON, THE CITY OF MANVEL, AND THE TEAM OF DEVELOPMENT WITH DEL BELLO LAKE FOR BEING SUCH GREAT SUPPORTERS OF OUR ORGANIZATION AND HELPING US INTRODUCE NOT ONLY OUR FIRST PROJECT BUT THE CITY’S FIRST EVER INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND PROJECT.

TYOC’S YELLOW RAMP UP FOR VETERANS PROGRAM!

The Yellow Ramp Up for Veterans Program by The Yellow Out Campaign is dedicated to and in appreciation of David Douglas, the grandfather of our founder and president, Reaghan Velasquez. Mr. Douglas has honorably supported the efforts of The Yellow Out Campaign organization since the beginning and has ultimately been one of the organization’s biggest sponsors and supporters.

David Douglas served in the United States Army and focused his time in the service learning mechanics. After coming back to the States following his deployment and travel to Germany, he taught others, including servicemembers, mechanics and eventually become a partner of the American Mechanical Services brand and business. Mr. Douglas is a warrior in many ways and has a special impact to The Yellow Out Campaign’s newest program, especially because he named it. To Mr. Douglas and our Veterans, thank you for your service.

The Yellow Out Campaign’s Yellow Ramp Up for Veterans program focuses its efforts on collaborating with the community and veteran organizations to donate and build a ramp, or ramps, to a local disabled veteran whom struggles with accessibility within and around their own home. The Yellow Out Campaign aims to complete 3 to 4 builds throughout the year.
